Okana recently announced it received a new round of Innovate UK funding to further drive the development of its onsite plant equipment performance measuring software, Aquila. Part of this funding is now enabling the advancement of the new Aquila platform.

The Aquila platform development is the next stage in making this software readily available to those overseeing plant and equipment on site and within their wider organisation.

Real time 4D mapping of plant equipment to review, analyse and predict performance onsite.

Aquila links plant equipment to a project work programme using 4D BIM technology, showing real-time activity to accelerate your understanding of onsite operations.

Okana is currently mapping out user profiles and user journeys to understand their needs and requirements that may affect the development of the platform. It is essential to understand user motivations and what information they may require from the platform to bring efficiency savings to their projects.

Paul Thorpe, Director at Okana leading on Digital and Data Services commented on the Aquila platform update: “We are at the stage where we are scoping and defining user profiles to understand their specific needs and the challenges they can overcome through the use of Aquila.

“Extensive research has already taken place on the viability of measuring plant equipment and how the use of artificial intelligence (AI) within the Aquila software can benefit users. Aquila’s technology allows for greater optimisation by automatically determining the plant and equipment’s productivity output through machine learning algorithms in the platform.  This means no more performance predictions, the Aquila technology will accurately monitor and measure in use, down time and emissions output.”

The team is now moving to the testing stage of the Aquila platform as well as preparing for soft launch marketing testing, Paul added: “The soft launch will provide critical real world feedback on the first stage model of the platform, allowing us to modify if needed to meet live project challenges.”
